Walter Nitcher talks about the formation of the 501st Parachute Battalion at Fort Benning in 1941. He discusses the unit's maneuvers in Panama and the dangers of parachuting. He shares his recollections of several Airborne officers who later became generals, such as Lt. Melvin Zais, Major Miley, Mike Michaelis, and George Jones.
